The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members in Masvingo Province  are planning to plunge that province into chaos as they want to revenge for the alleged murder of that party’s activist, Nyasha Zhambe Mawere, who died on 26 November last year.

A source within CCC told this publication that CCC Masvingo Youth Assembly chairperson Bernard Chimurago, National Executive Council (NEC) member Moses Mavhure and Gutu ward 34 councillor Wilcliff Matindike were plotting to carry out acts of violence against ZANU PF members in that province whom they are accusing of murdering Zhambe.

However, the source revealed that it is known that Zhambe succumbed to injuries he sustained after a brawl at a bottle store.

According to the source, the trio held a caucus meeting at Mupandawana Growth Point on 7 February this year and they resolved to jot down names of people whom they want to attack first.

“They held a meeting at Mupandawana Growth Point where they resolved to avenge for the alleged murdering of Zhambe. They agreed that they should unleash violence against ZANU PF members in that area as well as members from the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) who operates in that area. On their list of targets, they wrote the name of one Joseph Mudziwa Pasi on top,” said the source.

The source added that the trio further resolved that they will recruit some radical CCC youths who will be given some stipends to motivate them to execute the acts of violence.

The same source said the impending acts of violence has the blessing of CCC vice chairperson Job Sikhala who urged the youths not to  fold their hands, but be radical in order  to send a signal to ZANU PF that the ‘status quo was no longer the same’.

According to the source, the acts of violence will be carried during the cover of darkness. The modus operandi will include maiming and killing known CIO officers and ZANU PF members as well as torching their houses.

Efforts to get a comment from CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere were futile as her mobile phones were not reachable.

“Government efforts of ensuring uninterrupted supply of fuel and electricity to the mining sector have contributed significantly to the efficient production of diamond hence, the results.

“Again, the increased operational efficiency can be attributed to equipment that was imported from Germany in
March 2021.  The equipment comprises of 2 excavators and some service kits,” said the contact that preferred anonymity.
