"Your Excellency, Amai Mnangagwa as you are aware, it is our tradition that when a child is about to go on an expedition, he or she is given guidance by the elders before embarking on such adventure. "This is meant to ensure that the child is well acquainted with the general expectations on how he or she should carry herself in a foreign land, "she implored. Minister Simbanegavi said that as the ministry, they found it proper for the netball players to spend some quality time with Amai Mnangagwa who is the mother of the nation so that they can be given some words of wisdom. Minister said that the netball players needed to be socially and psychologically prepared just like a newly married girl before she goes to her new home. The "Gems" will join South Africa, Malawi and Uganda which are the only African countries which qualified for the World Cup. The Government funded the two friendly matches the girls played against Uganda and South Africa last year in June so that they get the preparation they require for the World Cup. In supporting the netball team, the Government has also paid the team's accommodation bill and airfares to England. Honourable Simbanegavi assured the First lady that the "Gems" as the first team to qualify for such a tournament, will not embarrass her and the nation at large but will bring glory and pride to same.

Zimbabwean football legend and Mamelodi Sundowns Football club team manager, Peter Ndlovu has exchanged his boots with politics as he is set to lead a new political kid on the block, the Harare Post can exclusively report.

The new party, All People’s Party (APP), is the creation of the Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) which resolved during a recent executive meeting, to mutate into a new political party. “Ndlovu was co-opted into the leadership of the APP by former ZimPF members and our hope is to profit from his popularity in the football circle. Our hope is that he would replicate Liberian former football icon, George Weah who came from the stadium to the State House,” said an inside source.

George Weah is currently serving as the 25th President of Liberia after being elected in 2018. Unlike Ndlovu, Weah was a senator prior to his election to the presidency. The source further revealed that the party had already received funding from Ndlovu’s colleagues at Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. where he is the Team Manager. He, however, could not divulge the amount they had received so far.

The party said the source, would have only five provinces. He said the representatives of the five provinces-Manicaland, Masvingo, Mashonaland, Matebeleland andMidlands- had already been selected. He said that the party was targeting to recruit mostly disgruntled members of the MDC led by Nelson Chamisa.

He claimed that a number of the disgruntled MDC members have already indicated interest in joining the party. MDC is facing a split following a shambolic congress that was characterised by manipulation of the voting process.
