President Mnangagwa for 2023

Grace Chekai

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has proven during the short time, he has been in office that he has the capability and vision to lead the people of this great nation and take them to a “Zimbabwe we all want”. It is not surprising to note that every Zimbabwean in all parts of the world is chanting the slogan #2023 5MillionVotesPossible for President Mnangagwa for the harmonised election in 2023. The majority of Zimbabweans have confidence in him even those doubting Thomases are now convinced that President Mnangagwa is the man for the job, in light of the significant improvement, he has wrought to the economy since he came into power in 2017.

President Mnangagwa has so far completed many projects in all sectors of the economy, in a bid to turn around the country’s economic fortunes. The infrastructure, education sector, agriculture sector are all showing signs of revival after years on the downturn.

We have no doubt as Zimbabweans that we are on the path to reclaim our regional bread basket status in Southern Africa. The current 2020-2021 agricultural season has proven this. Production of maize in 2021 is officially forecast at 2.7 million tonnes, nearly threefold the reduced outputs in 2019 and 2020, when production was affected by drought. All acclaim goes to President Mnangagwa and his administration for making this possible.

Both the peasant farmers and commercial farmers were assisted in this 2020-2021 agriculture season. The peasant farmers were assisted with inputs through the Pfumvudza program, which prescribed maximum production on very small pieces of land.

The commercial farmers got assistance from the Government through bank loans. Banks like Commercial Bank of Zimbabwe (CBZ) were given the mandate to give loans to these commercial farmers and lack of funding, which had hampered production on farms was addressed to everyone’s satisfaction.

President Mnangagwa is also working hard with his administration to ensure that our infrastructure meets the requirements of an upper middle income economy by 2030.

The roads are being rehabilitated after many years of neglect. The rehabilitation of the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway is on-going. The Chirundu highway is almost complete.

The cities are being rehabilitated. Harare residents now appreciate that President Mnangagwa can turn around the economy. The water situation has significantly improved.

Harare residents used to experience outbreaks of water borne diseases more than thrice in a year, but the new administration has changed all this. The livelihoods of the people are being improved and many can attest to that.

The honours is now on Zimbabweans to appreciate all that President Mnangagwa is doing and support his vision of taking our economy to greater heights. By voting for him in 2023, we will ensure continuity of all the programmes he has started to their completion.

It thus a no-brainer that youths all over Zimbabwe and those in the Diaspora are rallying behind President Mnangagwa and his vision. Prophet Passion Java has already cast the dice that President Mnangagwa is the President of choice.

What can stop people voting for President Mnangagwa in 2023, if all pointers are looking good? An Upper Middle Income Economy in 2030 is very possible under the administration of President Mnangagwa.
