Graduation with a difference

Graduates  from Chinhoyi University of Technology  (CUT) were on Friday thrilled  to be the first group to be capped by His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa soon after assuming the country 's leadership.

Speaking to Harare Post soon after the ceremony, Tatenda Gladman Chiota who graduated with a Master of Science in Post Harvest Science and Technology described President Mnangagwa's presence as a blessing.

"We are really honoured to host our humble and respected Chancellor, our leader. We are truly blessed. We are proud to be the first graduating group among all universities to host the President soon after his election into power, assuming the country's leadership," he said.

Patrick Nielsen Kaliofasi a Bachelor of Science Honours in food science said he was optimistic that they would find jobs under the leadership of President Mnangagwa.

"We are really happy and optimistic that we will get jobs in the new Zimbabwe. Our President always talk about employment and job creation. It is one of his areas of focus. We will wait patiently for our jobs," he said.

CUT public relations and marketing director Dr Musekiwa Clinton Yapera said the 14th CUT graduation was a milestone to the institution as it reflects growth and development of the young and ambitious university.

CUT is the first University in Zimbabwe to confer degrees with President Mnangagwa as the new chancellor. President Mnangagwa capped 1583 graduates at the colourful and exciting event graced by guests from all corners of the country.
