Ministers continue to visit Chimanimani

Minister of Defence and War Veterans, Oppah Muchinguri and National House of Assembly member, Joshua Sacco is today touring Nhedziwa  (Ward 4),Machongwe (Ward 13), Ngangu (Ward 15) and Chikukwa (Ward 10) to access the extent of damage and how the army engineers would help in the reconstruction of bridges.

The death toll from Tropical Cyclone Idai is now at 139 after more bodies were recovered in Chimanimani and Chipinge, Manicaland province.

A high powered Government delegation continues to visit Chimanimani and Chipinge as efforts to assist and rescue victims intensify.

 Last week,the Minister of Labour, Public Service and Social Welfare, Sekai Nzenza  was part of the delegation  that visited the ravaged district as Government continues to access  infrastructure destruction, and  finds ways to attend  to the situation.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Joel Biggie Matiza during the tour last week also said the government with the assistance of development partners will move in swiftly to make the roads passable and effectively attend to the situation in Chimanimani and Chipinge.

People in Chimanimani hailed the stance taken by the government, saying they swiftly got the held they desired from Civil Protection Unit and Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA).

The Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing July Moyo as well as the Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement Rtd Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri were also among the high Government officials to visit Chimanimani a day after the tragedy occurred.
