Tsenengamu quits politics

Controversial and loud mouthed former ZANU PF Youth League national political commissar, Godfrey Tsenengamu has quit active politics almost a year after his expulsion from the party for gross indiscipline.

Writing on his social media sites yesterday, Tsenengamu said that after deep introspections, he finally decided to retire from politics to focus on other projects.

“It has been a year after I was expelled out of the ZANU PF party. To this day, there has been countless suggestions and invitations across the divide for me to consider rejoining the ruling party or joining hands with fellow citizens within the opposition circles. After deep introspections and reflections, I have finally made up my mind. I am going on a political sabbatical and focus on non-political activities. It may not be the best decision but I hope and trust God that this will work out as I play my part in serving my country far away from politics,” said Tsenengamu.

Tsenengamu, who is among the few politicians to be expelled from the ruling party twice, has hobnobbed with various political parties including the little known Blessing Kasiyamhuru’s Zimbabwe Partnership for Prosperity (ZIPP), where he was again expelled for indiscipline.

After his second expulsion from ZANU PF, Tsenengamu went on to form the Front for Economic Emancipation in Zimbabwe (FEEZ) which fizzled out days after its launch as Zimbabweans refused to be associated with it.

Political analyst Liberty Makazwarwa said Tsenengamu’s decision to quit active politics was probably influenced by his realization that he was now a political nonentity who attracted little attention across the political divide.

“I think Tsenengamu has decided to quit politics because he realized that he was now a political nonentity who now attracted little attention across the country. I don’t think that there is still a political party that wants to associate with him because of his divisive and controversial behavior,” said Makazwarwa.

Tsenengamu started his politics in Mt Darwin where he rose through the ranks from a district chairperson, Mashonaland Central Provincial political commissar to ZANU PF national youth league political commissar.

After several warnings and suspensions, he was eventually expelled from the ruling party for gross indiscipline after he refused to enroll at Chitepo Scholl of Ideology for ideological  rehabilitation.
