…as it prepares to regain its market share

Zimbabwe’s National Airline, Air Zimbabwe has this week welcomed two flights crew members, who have just completed their training in flying the airline’s ERJ145 aircraft, which is popularly known as the Embraer.

The two flight crew members, captain Vimbai Murombedzi and First Officer Ritchmonds Tsumah successfully completed training and received their ERJ145 type wings on Friday last week.

The ERJ145 aircraft is Embraer’s 50 passengers regional jet airliner which provides the versatility to build regional network and right size capacity and is a proven runway legend,

“Congratulations to our flight crew for completing their check ride, the first pair as we set toward building capacity for Z-WPQ as well as for additional ERJ 145 under procurement.  As a key strategic national asset, we remain committed to our role in facilitating investment, trade and tourism.

“The national airline remains focused on regaining its market share, offering service excellence and schedule integrity to the travelling public,” said Makonise.

Air Zimbabwe has resumed its Harare-Johannesburg flights while the ERJ145 is servicing the domestic Triangle, Harare-Bulawayo and Victoria Falls- Harare routes, both at four times.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe has new airlines flying to Harare and Victoria Falls.  Qatar airways are set to fly into Harare three times a week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday starting on 6 August 2021.  Eurowings announced its plans to fly the Frankfurt-Windhoek-Victoria Falls route in 2023.  These flights add to existing ones being provided by Emirates, SAA, RwandAir and the Ethiopian Airlines among others.

These developments are an indication that the New Dispensation means business, as it seeks to promote businesses and tourism in the country.
