Mkwananzi not wanted in MDC Alliance

Leader of Tajamuka/Sesijikile, an opposition political activist group, Promise Mkwananzi, has been accused of bootlicking MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa in a bid to be readmitted into that party.

A source privy with the details said Mkwananzi is a criminal who is viewed with suspicion by members of the MDC Alliance.

“Mkwananzi is trying hard to be readmitted into the MDC Alliance structures through bootlicking Chamisa. Everyone in MDC Alliance knows his criminal intent and would not tolerate him. Now Mkwananzi is back seeking to dribble past everyone to get his way to the leadership positions but he must not be given audience as he is a toxic man,” said the source.

The same source accused Mkwananzi of hijacking the Tajamuka/Sesijikile group and positioning himself as a vibrant and militant person in a bid to obtain money from Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO).

It is believed that Mkwananzi had been going around embassies and other donors requesting for funds to revive his now defunct movement, promising them that he would dethrone the Government by popular uprising. The source accused Mkwananzi of trying to steal the limelight from jailed opposition activist Makomborero Haruzivishe who had gained sympathy from opposition members as he was regarded as a hero in that circle.

“Mkwananzi has been making rounds in donor circles claiming to be on a mission to revive Tajamuka/Sisijikile group. His objective is to exploit the vacuum created by the demise of the People Power movement which was being steered by convicted activist Makomborero Haruzivishe. He want to use the movement to milk funds from donors,” said the source.

According to the source, Mkwananzi should not be anywhere near the Tajamuka/Sisijikile business as he was not among its founders.

“When Tajamuka/Sisijikile was formed, it had vibrant cadres like Hardlife Mudzingwa, Maureen Kademaunga, Fortune Munyonga, Ishmael Kauzeni, Francis Rwodzi, Joanna Mamombe, Trust Nhubu and others. Mkwananzi was not there,” said the source.

Mkwananzi was further accused of installing himself as the leader of the opposition group and he along Heal Zimbabwe Trust Director, Rashid Mahiya, collected money from various embassies and NGOs on the pretext that they would overthrow the Government and cause regime change in the country. Mahiya is currently being accused by some affiliate organisations of Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition of causing divisions within the group.

In 2014, Mkwananzi, together with the likes of Elton Mangoma and Tendai Biti were manhandled by the then MDC youths who were accusing the trio of trying to ouster Morgan Tsvangirai. Since then, the opposition had continued to view Mkwananzi as a divisive and toxic character.
