A senior Government official has revealed that Caledonia will soon become a state of the art suburb.

Addressing Zanu PF supporters at a gathering in Caledonia, Goromonzi South constituency today, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga assured party supporters that government was working towards upgrading their suburb.

Vice President Chiwenga said, “We are bringing a comprehensive master plan that will avail a state of the art clinic for you which will be in compliance with urban status.”

He emphasised that building a clinic was the government`s first priority in their location. He also added that maternity fees were scraped so as to lessen the high cost fees on pregnant women.

VP Chiwenga also promised to build state of the art schools in Caledonia that will boost the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). He added that children should start learning science subjects at a tender age.

He also said that the programme for the rehabilitation of roads would also be stretched to Caledonia.

VP Chiwenga pledged that the water challenges would be resolved by the construction of Kunzvi dam. Residents from Chitungwiza, Ruwa, Epworth and Norton will also benefit from the dam, he said.

The VP assured Caledonia residents that industries are going to be built in their area. He told the people that they would not be left homeless but the Government will assist them to build standard houses.

The VP added that Government was going to regularise all the existing cooperatives. He said that Caledonia was gazetted under Goromonzi in contrast to what the MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa had said before that he wants it to be under Harare Province.

VP Chiwenga encouraged people to go and vote in their numbers on Monday. He emphasised that in every election, there are losers and winners and as such, losers must congratulate the winners and the winners should encourage the losers to do better next time.
