Production of Chrome at Gaths Mine is on the increase following the mining expeditions by Queen Chrome Mining under Shabanie Mashava Mine.

What started as a dewatering project for King Mine has proved to be a profitable Chrome mining venture, that started with a production of 300 tonnes per month increasing to a staggering 1 400 tonnes per month.

This publication managed to interview a contact within Gaths Mine (King Mine), who revealed that since August 2021 when the Chrome mining commenced, it created employment for people around Mashava community

“Chrome mining at Gaths was said to have been initiated by the need to provide working capital for King Mine, which is currently dewatering.  I can confidently tell you that this has managed to create employment for the community around Mashava.

“As we speak, the company has entered into an arrangement with Afrochine where it has since been advanced the line of credit in return for Chrome.

“In May of 2022, the company engaged another contractor, Gurta AG (Marinatha) a situation that increased its monthly production estimate more than 3 000 tonnes.”

Meanwhile, Gaths Mines is estimated to contain reserves of more than 200 000 tonnes of quantified Chrome resources with further explorations still going on. Currently the company employs 150 contract workers and they are expected to increase to more than 500 before the end of this year.
