ZANU PF Mbare 7 District Vice Chairperson, Tonderai Rusere was heavily attacked by a team led by Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) provincial youth member, Last Chinodya on Sartuday.

A contact has revealed that Rusere was mobilizing ZANU PF members for the National Cell Day exercise at Nyerere flats in Mbare on Saturday.

He added that when Chinodya saw the mobilization, he told him to leave the place to which Rusere resisted and continued with the exercise. Chinodya reportedly called ten hooligans who then attacked Rusere using all sorts of weapons found nearby.

“Chinodya called 10 hooligans to assault Tonderai Rusere who was mobilizing ZANU PF members to attend their cell day launch. We are now waiting for the police to investigate the matter since it was reported to ZRP Matapi. The matter is being investigated by CID Law and Order,” revealed the contact.

CCC members continue to provoke ZANU PF members so that the latter reacts a move that is anticipated to attract international attention.

Political analysts say the opposition is already aware that they are going to lose the forthcoming plebiscite, thus they have resorted to violence to discredit the electoral process and the inevitable ZANU PF victory.

Last month intoxicated CCC members caused commotion in Chitungwiza after they attacked the police and members of the public with beer bottles and stones. The CCC members were shouting vulgar during their campaign and were advised to conduct their campaign in peace.

Earlier this year, two youths who had defected from CCC and joined ZANU PF were attacked and injured by their former colleagues who accused them of ‘selling out’.

Political analysts have castigated the CCC members for not practising what they preach. They said CCC always blames ZANU PF for denying them space to campaign yet they are also guilty of the same.
