Chaos in CCC over formation of National Youth Taskforce

More fissures have emerged within Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) with reports saying that members are resisting Chamisa’s formation of a National Youth Taskforce (NYT) to carry out militia activities ahead of the forthcoming elections

.

A source who spoke to this publication said that Chamisa established NYT without consulting other senior members and has instructed the group to report to him alone

According to the source, the NYT would be headed by former president of the Zimbabwe National Student Union (ZINASU), Takudzwa Ngadziore and would have structures across the country.

“Chamisa has formed the National Youth Taskforce to carry out militia activities ahead of the 2023 elections. The Taskforce would be headed by Ngadziore and would report to Chamisa alone. This Taskforce would have structures across the country and other CCC leaders are not allowed to interfere with the operations of this Taskforce,” said the source.

The source further revealed that the NYT structures would cascade to Provinces, Districts and Wards. At Ward level, the Taskforce would comprise of six members headed by a Ward coordinator and its task would be to carry out militia activities in that particular ward.

The same source added that Chamisa has lost trust in the members of the CCC interim structures hence his formation of the NYT to be his foot soldiers ahead of the elections.

The source added that members of the interim CCC Youth Assembly have vowed to resist the formation of NYT and have resolved not to recognise Ngadziore as the NYT chairperson.

“The formation of NYT has widened already existing rifts within CCC as some members, particularly those from the Youth Assembly, have vowed to resist the formation of another structure outside recognised party structures. Members are arguing that Chamisa should work with existing structures instead of creating his own parallel structures. Youth Assembly members have vowed not to recognise Ngadziore as NYT chairperson and said that they would not allow him to meet with CCC Provincial, District and Ward structures,” said the source.

Meanwhile, Chamisa is expected to start introducing Ngadziore as the leader of NYT to other CCC structures starting next week.
