ZANU PF braces for 2023 elections

The ruling ZANU-PF party has put in place necessary resources and strategies while all its systems have been oiled to deliver a landslide victory in this year’s harmonized elections.

Addressing a press conference at the ZANU PF headquarters yesterday, the Party’s national spokesperson, Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa said that ZANU PF would not be defeated by a structureless party like Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

“We want to affirm our confidence to the constitution of Zimbabwe. We had our congress and His Excellency, President Mnangagwa was chosen as the Party’s sole presidential candidate. CCC does not have policies and political structures. It is different from us and that is the distinction between ZANU PF and CCC,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

Cde Mutsvangwa added that ZANU PF would soon conduct its primary elections to choose candidates for local authority and parliamentary elections. He urged Party members to campaign for President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF.

“Primary elections will come where the party will vote for our internal candidates and this will be done in a swift and democratically manner. We will align our primary elections requirements to those of Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC),”said Cde Mutsvangwa.

Cde Mutsvangwa mentioned that ZANU PF was increasing its influence in rural areas and was determined to reclaim urban seats from the opposition.

“We are confident that our rural areas will push us through as we are determined to increase the number of voters there. The party will bring in urban votes from CCC, so we expect that the winning margin of our President will be much wider this time", said Cde Mutsvangwa.

The ZANU PF spokesperson brushed aside CCC's assertions that the Party was afraid of elections and said that ZANU PF was ready to romp to an overwhelming victory.

Meanwhile, ZANU PF has already begun a roll out mobilization strategy and voter registration of its members ahead of this year’s elections, targeting to mobilise five million votes for President Mnangagwa.
