Western embassies have been unsettled by the recent visit of the Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko to Zimbabwe as they want to discredit the Government’s re-engagement and engagement efforts.

According to a source, a diplomat was heard instructing Tendai Biti to ensure that Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) cyber warriors  discredit the visit as an attempt to lure African countries to support Russia in its conflict with Ukraine.

"Tendai Biti was instructed to dismiss and discredit the visit of President Lukashenko and to term it as a Russian plan to gain support from African countries. Biti was told to use the CCC cyber warriors to peddle this narrative,"said the source.

According to the same source, the diplomat was determined to make sure that ZANU-PF does not get any political gain from President Lukashenko's visit. CCC keyboard warriors were again instructed to peddle a narrative that President Lukashenko's visit was aimed at plundering minerals.

"The envoy vowed that ZANU-PF should not get political mileage from the visit and keyboard warriors were told to lie that President Lukashenko's visit was  to  plunder mineral concessions as well as extend Russia's sphere of influence in what Biti termed the "Russification of the world,"said the source.

Tendai Muswere, a political analyst mentioned that Tendai Biti and CCC were being used by Western countries to soil everything that ZANU-PF and President Mnangagwa(you left something) for self aggrandisement.

"Government engagement and re-engagement policy has the potential to alleviate the pressure exerted by illegal Western economic sanctions imposed on the country two decades ago. I wish Biti could wake up from his sleep so that he can see that he is being used to further other nations' agenda," said Muswere.

Meanwhile, the visit of President Lukashenko marked a milestone towards the industrialisation of Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector which would see the enhancement of value chain supply as the Government continues to lead in the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
