The Young Women in Business Global Forum launched the second phase of empowering women who are vulnerable in the information communication technology skills in Redcliff, yesterday.

Speaking at the event, Young Women in Business President Aphia Musavengana stated that the affiliate organization is working hand in glove with President Emmerson Mnangagwa`s mantra of capacitating all women as the nation makes strides to ensure that no one and no place is left behind.

“We have seen that young women need to play their role in the country`s development agenda through robust Information Communication Technology (ICT) programmes. We are in support with our President to change the fortunes of those who are in need,

“This is our way of saying we are supporting a vision to help Zimbabwe achieve its vision. We are happy with the number of people who continue to show interest in being empowered though such initiatives,” said Musavengana.

One beneficiary who lives in Torwood, Tatenda Makosi applauded the Government for training programmes being implemented by the Government to uplift women highlighting that ICT training would enhance improvement in their businesses through online connections.

“We really applaud the Second Republic for these training programmes in ICT.  As women we are now capacitated in ICT programmes and as a result we will widen our market base through online connections. We can now connect with various markets globally. This is also a positive development to the nation at large because more foreign currency will trickle in due to the global market inclusion,” said Makosi.

Another beneficiary from Rutendo, Roseline Mangwanya indicated that this ICT training would enable efficiency in the business operations of a lot of women in the area who faced challenges of transport costs in conducting their business.

“This ICT training programme has just come at the right time. We are now able to do our business in the comfort of our homes without incurring travelling expenses. ICT business saves time, overcoming distance, enables remote access to new information, markets and connectivity with people and reduces transaction costs,” said Mangwanya.

The Second Republic`s agenda of bridging the gender gap is also in line with the country’s 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals of addressing the gender inequalities so as to tackle the roots of poverty and discrimination, and to provide adequate social protection to the most vulnerable.
