CCC supporters threaten voter apathy

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters have castigated its leader Nelson Chamisa for the lack of transparency in his Candidate Selection Process, stating that the calibre of the final candidates presented was not what they envisioned.

Speaking to this publication a member of the CCC only identified as Yeukai Madondo, expressed her disapproval on the CCC final candidates list to represent that party during the Harmonised General Elections to be held on 23 August 2023.

“I don’t think our president (Chamisa) values our vote; if he did he would have listened when the people told him that Gomba was very corrupt, but he hoodwinked us at Stoddart Hall by promising that all those who had been charged with criminal cases would not be selected.

“Now we see that Gomba has been selected to represent Mbare.  It is clear that the CCC leadership is content with remaining the country’s opposition, as such we will withhold out votes. We will not support imposition of candidates,” said Madondo.

Meanwhile, Former Harare East legislator, Tendai Biti has been mobilising women in that constituency to approach Chamisa and protest his defeat to Allan Rasty Markham in representing CCC in the Harare East constituency in the upcoming plebiscite.
