Zimbabwe is a sovereign and independent state and has the right to decide what is good for its citizens.

This was said by President Mnangagwa yesterday while addressing thousands of people gathered at Mutema Primary School in Chipinge for the ZANU-PF 2023 Official Campaign Launch.

During his address, the President said that no other country or leader had the right to dictate to us how this country could be governed.

"We do not get instructions from anybody. No other country or leader outside Zimbabwe can tell us what to do. We decide for ourselves for the good of our country and for the good of our people. We are committed to Zimbabweans,” said President Mnangagwa.

The President challenged all Zimbabweans to take an active role in the development of the country.

"As you are here, make it a point that I am a Zimbabwean man and I am a Zimbabwean woman. My responsibility is to contribute to the development of my country. You should be remembered for having contributed to your country’s development. You must be remembered for your good works," said the President.

President Mnangagwa reiterated that ZANU PF was unstoppable and would easily romp to victory in the upcoming elections slated for August 23 this year.

"ZANU PF is unstoppable. It will continue governing Zimbabwe as other parties continue to split, said the President.

During the same address, the President chronicled the achievements of the ZANU-PF-led Government in the past five years.

President Mnangagwa said that the government had made huge successes in infrastructure development and growing the economy.

The President informed the nation that it has not witnessed load shedding in the past three weeks as the two new power units at Hwange Power Station (Units 7 and 8) are now feeding into the national grid.

President Mnangagwa added that unlike in the past, where foreign companies would be awarded tenders to construct and renovate roads, the Second Republic had made it a policy to award tenders to local companies.

In the mining sector, President Mnangagwa said that revenues had since grown from about US$3.7 billion in 2018 to over US$12 billion last year.

The President also indicated that significant strides were made in reintegrating Zimbabwe into the global family of nations through the engagement and re-engagement drive.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa urged Zimbabweans to be peaceful as the country gets closer to election day. He said that peace should prevail before, during and after elections.
