Zimbabwe's industrial sector has welcomed the recent improvement in the country's power supply situation, stating that this would improve their production levels as well as create more job opportunities.

Commenting on the improvement of power generation in the country yesterday, the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sekai Kuvarika noted that the improved power supply is a welcome relief for the industrial sector, which had been struggling to cope with its production targets due to the effects of power outages.

“The power outages have been reduced, and businesses are now able to operate more efficiently. The improved power supply will help to boost production and create jobs. The government should continue to invest in the energy sector to ensure that the country has a reliable and sustainable supply of electricity,” she said.

Another citizen identified as Rutendo Nyoni also welcomed the positive development on energy saying that more jobs would be created by the improvement in power generation.

“This is a welcome development for Zimbabwe. It will help to boost economic growth and create jobs.  Furthermore, consumers will benefit from uninterrupted power supply in homes,” said Nyoni

The Government has set a target to generate a total of 1,500 megawatts of power by 2025.
