The Government has advised members of the public to buy seed from reputable companies and outlets so as to avoid fake seeds.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development has encouraged members of the public to buy seed from licensed companies who would assist them in buying seeds that are adaptable to their environment.

“When selecting a variety, choose the one adaptable to your environment and management conditions and whose produce/commodity will be accepted by the target market.

“Buy your seed from seed companies and reputable outlets that are licensed to sell seed by the national seed authority. Be on alert, do not buy fake seed,” said the ministry.

The ministry encouraged the members of the public to use quality seed so as to produce high yields.

“Remember, the potential productivity and quality of the commodity for any crop production venture (be it for food, animal feed, industrial use, beauty etc) lies in the seed, hence you are encouraged to use good quality seed,” illustrated the ministry.

The advice given to the members of the public by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Rater and rural Development is in line with Government`s mantra which seeks to align goals and objectives across Zimbabwe`s existing agricultural policies and climate change strategies, which will contribute to the achievement of the country`s vision 2030.
