Chamisa spies on Biti

The bad blood between the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa and his interim co- vice leader, Tendai Biti continues to escalate as the latter is convinced that his boss is spying on him.

A source who spoke to this publication indicated that Chamisa had lost trust and favour in Biti whom he believes had a hand in his failure to secure funding for the forthcoming elections during his recent visit to the United States.

“The CCC is in a mess as we speak right now. Nelson Chamisa no longer trusts his deputy, Biti. Biti is convinced that Chamisa has recruited Freddie to spy on him. He discovered this plot when he got access to Freddie’s cellphone last. He saw Freddie’s conversation with Chamisa which exposed the spying operation,” said the source.

According to the source, Freddie visited Biti last week. In the midst of their discussion, Freddie handed over his phone to Biti intending to show the latter an instruction that he had received from Chamisa. Instead, Biti went on to browse through Freddie’s phone and discovered that he was actually recording their conversation and sending it to Chamisa.

The source further said that, the relationship between the two had irretrievably broken so much that even attempts by Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema, an ally of both, to get them bury the hatchet, have failed.

The sour relationship between the two has seen Chamisa rigging the Harare East candidate selection process against Biti. Impeccable sources confided in this publication that Biti was set to challenge Chamisa during their party’s inaugural congress reportedly scheduled for August.
