Low turn-out at Chamisa rallies

… pointing to massive electoral defeat for CCC

Political analysts have predicted a massive electoral loss for Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, following the low attendance at that party leader, Nelson Chamisa’s star rallies, the Harare Post can report.

According to a CCC member within the campaign organising committee, that party has been failing to mobilise large numbers for Chamisa’s star rallies

“It doesn’t look good; our star rallies have been marred with poor attendance, something that has angered Chamisa greatly.

“In Mutoko we had a crowd of not more than 50 people, while in Musami we were only able to gather a crowd of only 300 people, if this is anything to go by, I am telling you that we have already lost the election to Zanu PF” said the committee member who refused to be identified for fear of victimisation.

Political analyst, Marvis Sithole affirmed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was poised to win the 23 August Harmonised General elections with an emphatic victory due to his charismatic character of walking the talk.

“President Mnangagwa has let his work speak for him, it is what has attracted the huge crowds at his gatherings. This is a clear indication that he will win this election with a huge margin. Even surveys from Afrobarometer  and Fitch Solutions have predicted a landslide victory for President Mnangagwa.

“He has commanded huge crowds, with the latest in Manicaland Province having exceeded the 300 000 mark.  This cannot be compared to Chamisa’s crowds of only 50 people,” Sithole said.

Chamisa’s demise has been linked to his ill treatment of the CCC old guards whom he purged through his Candidate Selection Process, which was marred with numerous cases of imposition in a bid to consolidate his power. Tendai Biti, Thokozani Khupe and Welshman Ncube were some of Chamisa’s casualties that had a large followership; this has been contributed to the low support turn out at Chamisa’s rallies.
