Khupe, Ncube to form an electoral pact

Leader of the MDC-T splinter party, Dr Thokozani Khupe and Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) co-vice president, Welshman Ncube, has resolved to set their differences aside and form an electoral pact that will contest the 2023 elections.

A source who spoke to this publication said Khupe and Ncube clandestinely met yesterday in Bulawayo and agreed to work together in the coming elections.

According to the source, the duo accused both Nelson Chamisa and Douglas Mwonzora of relegating Ndebele speaking people to the peripheries of their political projects. Khupe and Ncube told each other that they were the only hope for the people of Matebeleland region; hence they should bury the hatchet and work together.

“Yesterday, Ncube and Khupe met in Bulawayo and agreed to work together in the coming elections. The duo accused Chamisa and Mwonzora of being arrogant and treating the Ndebele speaking people as second class citizens. Ncube told Khupe that the Ndebele people had no future in the CCC, hence they should work together to challenge the Shona hegemony in the Zimbabwean politics,” said the source.

The source added that the duo’s meeting was also attended by former MDC-T organising secretary Abednego Bhebhe who was tasked to mobilise Ndebele speaking people to rally behind a Ndebele presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections.

According to the source, Ncube told Khupe that he was tired of being disrespected by Chamisa and was contemplating resigning so that he could focus on reviving his MDC Ncube party. Khupe reportedly also told Ncube that she was ready to work with him provided that she will not be betrayed by Ncube the same way she was betrayed by both Chamisa and Mwonzora.

The source said that the duo resolved to engage ZAPU and Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) in order to agree on the idea of having a single Ndebele speaking presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

Efforts by this publication to get a comment from both Ncube and Khupe were futile as the duo were not answering their mobile phones.
