Vote out incompetent opposition councillors—Pres. Mnangagwa

President Mnangagwa has urged the electorate to vote out all incompetent councillors in the upcoming Harmonised General Elections slated for August 23 this year to ensure smooth service delivery.

Addressing multitudes of people gathered at Mutema Primary School in Chipinge, Manicaland Province, for the ZANU PF 2023 Election Campaign Official Launch yesterday, President Mnangagwa said that the opposition councillors had let down the electorate as they had failed to deliver expected services to the people.

"You all know that we are going for elections, and you also know that many urban areas are not under ZANU PF councillors. This time we are saying, out!" Let’s vote for our own councillors who have the people at heart, not those who get into councils to loot and steal,” said President Mnangagwa.

The President lamented poor service delivery in Harare and said that garbage was being left uncollected for many days and was posing a health hazard to the people.

"In Harare, where I live, there is no collection of waste. People struggle to get water. CCC or other parties, which I don’t know by name, should go. We must all vote for our own councillors so that ZANU PF, which has the people’s interests at heart, will deliver,”  said the President.

The President added that whereas other political parties in Zimbabwe were known for selling out, the ZANU-PF party is known for fighting for independence and democracy.

"There is no other party that can relate to the liberation more than ZANU PF, but there are parties that are known for being sell-outs. There is no other party that speaks the language that we speak. There is no other party that has brought independence, democracy, and the dignity of the African person. It was ZANU PF through the armed liberation struggle, said President Mnangagwa.

Meanwhile, the ZANU PF candidates who attended the campaign launch said that they were confident of winning the elections as the Party had done enough in the past five years to guarantee its victory. Currently, ZANU PF has already bagged 74 wards as the opposition parties failed to field candidates for those local government seats.
