ZANU PF heads for a landslide victory: Afrobarometer

AfroBarometer has released survey findings that predict an election victory for ZANU PF in the upcoming Harmonised General Elections, the Harare Post can report.

A survey recently carried out by Afrobarometer indicates that people prefer ZANU PF over the opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

According to the survey, 35% of the people said they would vote for ZANU PF if the elections were to be held tomorrow, while 26% said they would vote for CCC.

Speaking to this publication, Political Analyst, Terrence Chipwanya attributed the predicted ZANU PF victory to its people centred policies.

“It is not surprising that ZANU PF would garner more votes than any other political party, we have seen President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s all-encompassing and decentralised policies assuring even those communities that felt marginalised that Government was aware of their plights.

“For the first time since attainment of independence, the Independence Day celebrations were held in Mt Darwin, Mashonaland Central, while the ZANU PF campaign launch rally was held in Chipinge, Manicaland. Boreholes have been drilled across the country’s rural and urban areas as well as the implementation of Devolution that has strengthened local governance by enhancing citizens’ participation in their governance and development. These efforts by ZANU PF contribute to the predicted victory,” said Chipwanya.

Furthermore, the survey proved that more than 56% of citizens were close to a political party, a revelation that throws a blow to independent candidates such as Saviour Kasukuwere.

Meanwhile, 70% of adult voters confirmed that they would vote in the 2023 elections.
