CCC fissures widen

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) fissures continue to widen ahead of the 2023 Harmonised General Elections slated for end of this month. This was evidenced by the absence of Matabeleland South CCC candidates at that party`s Beitbridge Star Rally held on 23 July 2023.

A highly placed CCC member has revealed that CCC Movement mobiliser, Amos Chibaya reached out to one CCC Matabeleland South Province candidate for the House of Assembly and directed that a report be written with names of all the candidates who had failed to attend the Beitbridge Star rally.

“The party (CCC) leadership is not happy about the turnout of people at their star rallies.  People are disgruntled and they are demonstrating their dissatisfaction by boycotting campaign rallies. A Beitbridge Star rally took place on 23 July 2023 and was only attended by three candidates.

“Chibaya who is the party’s (CCC) movement mobiliser has directed one of the candidates to write a report of all aspiring House of Assembly members who did not attend the star rally in Beitbridge.  He made it clear that the rally was supposed to be attended by everyone in the province, but just a handful decided to show up,” said the CCC member.

Due to the imposition of candidates within the CCC, aspiring candidates have been unable to mobilise followers for Chamisa’s rallies.  As such the rallies have proved to be unsuccessful since the beginning of that party’s campaign trail for the 2023 Harmonised General Election. Some of the rallies are being postponed due to poor logistics and insufficient funds.

Last week, the CCC rally that was meant to take place in Sanyati, Mashonaland West Province, flopped due to that party`s lack of funds and poor planning.
