G40 desperate to revive their local business interests.

The G40 faction is desperate to revive their waning local businesses to fund their political escapades and they have resorted to using proxies while they call the shots from the back.

A source who spoke to this publication said the G40 faction still have interests in local politics and they are currently mobilising resources to fund their 2023 electoral campaigns.

According to the source, the G40 have resolved to participate in local tenders using their proxies to front for them. The source revealed that a company linked to self-exiled Saviour Kasukuwere and Grace Mugabe was likely to be awarded a tender by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) to provide security services to its facilities

“A company called Realstar Security Private Limited, linked to Saviour Kasukuwere and Grace Mugabe, have won the tender to provide security services to various ZIMRA facilities. The company used its remnants within ZIMRA to influence the tender process in their favour. The G40 has infiltrated government departments and ZIMRA is currently heavily infiltrated by this faction,” said the source.

The source added that on paper, Realstar is owned by Carrington Mavhunduke, but the truth was that Mavhunduke was just a front for Kasukuwere and Mugabe.

“Mavhunduke is just a front for the G40.He is the focal person for the faction. He is being used to watch over the local business interests of Kasukuwere and Mugabe,” added the source.

The source revealed that Realstar won the tender to provide security for ZIMRA’s region one and three. Region one covers the whole of Harare while region three covers Masvingo, Manicaland and Midlands provinces.

The same source further added that Mavhunduke was also in charge of Wellcash Debt Collectors, a company beneficially owned by Kasukuwere and Mugabe. During Kasukuwere’s era as the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Wellcash Debt Collectors tormented a number of people as they employed aggressive and unprofessional methods of recovering debts owed to local authorities.

According to the source, Kasukuwere was in the process of changing names of his local companies although he will remain the major shareholder in those companies. The source added that Kasukuwere was desperate to revive his Tyson waBantu movement to contest in the forthcoming general elections.

Efforts to get a comment from both Kasukuwere and Mugabe were futile as they did not respond questions sent to them by this publication.
