Agriculture Board to include youths

The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development (MLAFWRD), has informed that it wishes to incorporate youths in its next board appointments.

This was revealed today during a meeting between Minister Anxious Masuka and the different youth groups.

“Government is appointing boards under the MLAFWRD in October.  Youths are directed to submit Curriculum Vitae (CVs) through our office (Gendermainstreaming, inclusivity and wellness).

“We want hard copies of these by the 25th of July 2023. Tamirira ma CV enyu, 10 will be considered from the CVs submitted,” said Minister Masuka.

At the same meeting, Minister Masuka informed the youths of pending land allocations to the youths as well as other numerous Government initiatives meant to empower and to support the youths as well as the physically challenged.

“Land allocations exercise is going well. However, farmers are also urged to think of joint ventures, and another new model that will be availed soon.  Youths training will resume soon, we are starting with Sipambi in Masvingo and working hand in glove with the Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) and other partners.

“The Ministry is ready to allocate people with disabilities as requested by the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), furthermore Kilimanjaro land training is in each district to provide 4 beneficiaries to include people with disabilities,” said Minister Masuka.

The MLAFWRD is on record promoting the youths in Agriculture. This year it plans to award outstanding farmers mainly focusing on women, people with disabilities as well as the youth.
