Citizens who visited Chitungwiza hospital dismissed Hopewell Chin’ono’s allegations on the state of affairs at Chitungwiza hospital as fake news.

The false allegations that a tattered bed belonged to Chitungwiza General Hospital spread like wild fire poking the interest of the general public including those of the officials at Chitungwiza hospital, who quickly dismissed the claims as fake news meant to tarnish the Government image ahead of the 2023 Harmonised General Elections.

This publication managed to interview a couple of patients that flocked the hospital for medical attention.

"Iyi iChitungwiza general hospital titori kuChitungwiza, semawonere amurikuzviyita, chipatara chedu chakanaka uye nevashandi vemo vanoshanda nemazvo, (as you can see, we are here at Chitungwiza hospital, it’s beautiful and its workers are dedicated to their work,” said Stella Nyangani, a patient at the hospital.

In a video that has also been circulated on social media, one is able to see the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), radiography rooms, general wards with beautiful state of the art beds, clean linen and patients waiting to be attended to.

Meanwhile, it would seem that Chin’ono peddles falsehoods as a way of seeking attention. ZimEye’s editor, Simba Chikanza labeled Chin’ono a journalist who has lost all media ethics.

"Chin'ono says things without evidence just to diminish the Government and the ruling party and that is wrong under media ethics,” said Chikanza.
