Recalled CCC legislators contemplate engaging Tshabangu

This move comes as preparations intensify for the forthcoming by-elections set for December 9, 2023.

A credible source, who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity, revealed that the recalled CCC legislators recently convened in Bulawayo and resolved to collaborate with Tshabangu.

"The recalled Bulawayo legislators held a caucus meeting last week, the crux of which was to secretly approach Tshabangu and appeal to him for endorsement as the party's official candidates in the forthcoming by-elections," the source revealed.

According to the source, this development takes an intriguing twist, as the legislators' move appears to defy a directive from their party leader, Nelson Chamisa. Chamisa had earlier declared that the CCC would abstain from participating in the by-elections.

"It seems the legislators are taking their destiny into their own hands. They are done waiting for a sign from Chamisa. Their patience has worn thin, especially as Chamisa seems bereft of any solid political strategy," the source added.

Furthermore, the source disclosed that the legislators had broached the idea of pooling together a substantial amount to incentivize Tshabangu's endorsement.

"Money talks, and they believe that with the right amount, Tshabangu might be persuaded to back their candidatures," the source said.

The same source added that the sense of urgency and desperation from the legislators stemed from their growing disillusionment with Chamisa's leadership, as was highlighted in their caucus meeting.

"The overarching sentiment in the meeting was one of frustration. Many feel that Chamisa is proving to be an inept leader. There is a shared belief that continuing under his leadership might jeopardise their political aspirations. Engaging Tshabangu now seems like their only viable option," the insider said.

Meanwhile, as the political drama unfolds, there is a palpable atmosphere of unease and anticipation within the CCC. Speculation is rife, and according to the grapevine, another wave of recalls is on the horizon.

Insiders speculate that prominent figures like Gift Ostallos Siziva, Joanna Mamombe, and Maureen Kademaunga could be next on the recall list from Parliament.
