A Matabeleland region based opposition political party, Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP), is under fire from service providers for failing to meet payment obligations, Harare Post reveals.

Speaking to this publication, one service provider who preferred anonymity, revealed that the party is failing to pay for the services rendered during a rally held this Saturday in Nkumane Suburb, Bulawayo.

“The party owes me ZWL5 500 and l have since contacted Mr Xaba who continuously tells me that they are still facing financial challenges. However, our agreement stipulated that they were supposed to pay me up soon after the rally since l delivered my services but to no avail. l will just have to take a legal route if they cannot pay up my money,” lamented the complainant.

He further told Harare Post that he cannot directly confront the party leadership for fear of being victimised.

“I know they have a record of violence, they have been holding violent demonstrations here koBulawayo. I too cannot stand a chance to confront them over my money because l don’t know what action they will take against me.

MRP enjoys minority support in Matabeleland region despite its calls for empowerment and possible secession of Matebeleland region from Zimbabwe. The party has been struggling to mobilise support from Matabeleland due to financial constraints.
