National Development Strategy to improve people’s welfare

Minister of State for Masvingo province, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira has said the implementation of National Development Strategy (NDS) seeks to improve the welfare of the people in the country.

Speaking during the Masvingo provincial conference in Masvingo today, Minister Chadzamira said, “The implementation of NDS is key to Provincial Development planning, hence the significance of rolling them out to each and every province.

“The implementation of NDS seeks to improve the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe including ourselves in Masvingo province.”

The Minister said mining, irrigation, infrastructure development, agriculture and tourism had been prioritised in the province and speaks to the NDS.

He said Masvingo province rendered its full support to this national development agenda and thus encourage provincial line ministries and other non-state actors to closely work together.

Honourable Chadzamira encouraged local participation to ensure success of the strategy.

“Let us shun vices that seek to reverse progress in the implementation of the proposed NDS.

“The successful implementation of the economic reforms, such as Transitional Stabilisation Program (TSP) and the upcoming NDS hinges on the knowledge and participation of the various stakeholders in the provinces

“In this regard, the roll-out will enable us as a province to make significant contributions to the NDS, whose consultations are underway. We, therefore, sincerely welcome the initiative by Central Government,” said the minister.

He said his office remained open to embrace all contributions that would act as a sound board to the NDS, so as to compliment and accelerate central Government thrust to modernise and industrialise our economy.

The five year NDS strategy crafted by the Government is crucial to bolster infrastructure projects deemed necessary for the attainment of an upper middle income economy by 2030. The NDS replaces the TSP programme, a two-year economic blueprint launched in October 2018.
